Looking through the discounted scraps for something to use as skin for Farrah the other day, we found an endpiece of jogging fleece. It has a nice texture, like what I’m imagining houndstooth is like (though I could be way off on that one, I fully and happily admit), was just slightly beige, and would look good for the slightly revamped Farrah (who will, aside from looking like a melting Mexican, be a pasty IT guy who just happens to have bad hair and like wearing ugly, ugly ponchos).
It took us a couple/few weeks to get around to using any of it, but it’s great. I love it. It doesn’t hide seams anywhere near as well as antron fleece does, but aside from my excuse that it doesn’t matter with Farrah because he’s meant to look like he’s not quite properly put together, you can hide them a bit, and the texture looks wonderful. And it’s cheap! Even if the piece we got hadn’t been 50% off, it would’ve been a bargain.
And it takes dye well, too! It’s going to be the skin for both Snitch 2.0 (who will have the same overall geometry to him, but different colouring) and Clark 2.0. I’d originally meant to use antron fleece for Clark, but ended up going forward with Mojo first, and used the fleece on him. And while the antron looks amazing, I don’t want every puppet to be made with it, I want some variety in the visuals.
