Building a Gun
Last night I made a model of half of the pistol from Battlestar Galactica, using Super Sculpey (which is AWESOME, by the way). I was originally going to carve it out of floral foam, but that stuff breaks apart so very easily, and I’d rather have the ability to fix mistakes I make while not inhaling a liter of green particulate matter.
So the Sculpey.
Armed with photo reference for a gun from the mini-series of the show (which I picked because of how much more science fiction-esque it looks), I made a super rough outline out of the block of Sculpey, then proceeded to sculpt. It turned out very well:
There are also a bunch more pictures in the Photoset on Flickr.
The next step will be to get my vacuum-form setup going, which should be fairly easy, based on what I’ve read/seen. I may also make a resin mold of it at some point in the future, so I can figure out how to do that.
