The Hoggworks Studios is small, but very skilled, and dedicated to helping create the most compelling, distinctive, and wondrous experiences for you and your clients.

Brian Hogg Puppeteer/Puppetbuilder/Experience Architect
Overambitious and probably a little crazy, Brian created the hit show dotBoom in his small, 11x11 basement, filling almost every role in its production: he conceived of the idea for the show, wrote every episode, built nearly all of the puppets used in the filming — he actually learned the trade in order to make the show — as well as building the sets, directing, filming, and editing every episode. He’s also the creator of The Rant Puppets, our surprisingly popular videoblog-style show featuring a very passionate puppet complaining about tech-related issues, and Ask Palpatine, the fan-favorite question-and-answer show featuring a kinder, gentler version of everybody’s favorite Dark Lord of the Sith, Emperor Palpatine.

Brian is the person who will be responsible for crafting the perfect creative solution to fit your needs, whether it’s something as simple as designing and building a single puppet, crafting a video production in support of your project, or something as complicating as designing and creating an entire show. His ideas are original, thought-provoking and never. He hates buzzwords, but if pressed, he will admit that he thinks out of the box. He might even say that he lives outside of the box, but he realizes how lame that sounds.

Before starting Hoggworks Studios, Brian worked a Flash developer for eight years, and remains well-regarded in the industry. He has produced a variety of high-quaity products, many award-winning, for a variety of clients, such as Nokia, Microsoft, and PBS, while working at companies like 10Plus1, Medium One, and Indusblue. He is the co-author of Flash MX 2004 Demystified, and for many years operated the educational site, mrhogg.com, where he helped teach thousands of people how to better use Flash, because he wanted to return the favor.

Madelyne Hilker Puppet Builder
Though relatively new to the trade, Madelyne fast established herself as indispensable, helping to create a number of the puppets for the second half of dotBoom’s inaugural season. Madelyne has a knack for building high-quality puppets, and does so with care, precision, and no small amount of precision.

While not helping create the cast of an online sitcom, Madelyne studies Medieval History at the University of Waterloo. That she is able to juggle the demands of being a full-time student AND puppet-builder, and to do both of those well, is a testament to her skill and dedication, both of which she brings to bear on all of the work she does at Hoggworks Studios.

In addition to our core staff, we have access to a large number of skilled puppeteers and puppet-builders. This means that no matter the size or complexity of the project, we can scale to meet your needs. Need a pair of puppets made on a tight schedule? We can handle that. Need the puppets AND the video production surrounding it? We can handle that, too.

We’re always looking for skilled professionals in a wide variety of disciplines to work with us on a project-by-project basis. If you’re a skilled Puppeteer, Puppet Designer, Puppet Builder, Set Designer or Builder, Camera Operator, Director, or Editor, or if you think you have skills that would work well with what we do, give us a shout at info@hoggworks.com.
