This is some demo video of the horse puppets made for a production of War Horse in the UK. They’re phenomenal pieces of work, and have such a nice, fluid, lifelike appearance to them. They take 3 people to operate properly, and can actually support the weight of a rider.

This is the horse puppet being shown off:

And here’s a news segment showing the horse puppets in the play, and at one point realistically running down the street; it’s an eerie visual, but so great:

Amazing Junk Sculptures

Via io9, it’s some fantastic sculptures by Sayaka Ganz, who uses discarded materials to create these wonderful creatures. Such a great re-use of products, and artistically wonderful; the sense of movement on them is really top-notch.

There are a bunch of projects and puppets that we’ve worked on in the last while that haven’t yet made it to the site. This is due entirely to me not taking the time, but I will do, soon. Hopefully.

MacWorld!

We’re going to be headed to MacWorld, to interview some presenters and attendees using a custom-built puppet for Paul Kent and his crew, which is pretty exciting. We’ll have a proper group of pictures up soon to show the puppet, but in the mean-time, this is what he looks like:

The site is running terribly slow, which is awesome. Also I need to put a bunch of updates on here, which I will likely not do until after I figure out why it’s slow. My guess is that it’s a theme issue; the current layout’s wearing thin on me, so I might look for a new one.

Mosspuppet Blog

For a little while now, we’ve been doing rants using a parody of Walt Mossberg, theoretically under the name “Walt Mosspuppet.” (Gizmodo referred to him as Mosspuppet, and being a much higher source of traffic than we, the name stuck) These rants have been available at the Rant Puppets. They still will be, but now there’s also a blog!

The idea is that the blog will be about short content, more frequently delivered, and that the videos will essentially be for the things that really get Mosspuppet upset. And we’re going to try to return to a Weekly schedule for the videos.

If you subscribe to the blog RSS feed, you’ll also see the videos, as we’ll be dropping them in as entries, though the Rantpuppets feed points to the higher quality Blip.tv feed.

Cylon Centurion

This is a Cylon Centurion puppet we built recently for a Battlestar Galactica parody that we’re working on. It was constructed with a nice dense foam, and painted with a coat of gray paint, and a coat of metallic paint, in order to give the nice, textured light.
